The Run For Fun Participants and Volunteers

This afternoon, we ran the first (annual?) Run for Fun at Katimavik. It was a real “feel good” event where more than 100  students, former students, staff and parents worked to reach a personal goal by running a 5km course. Staff (teachers and support staff), students, former students and parents also volunteered to help out with directing runners on the course,  providing food and drinks, and general crowd control. The signs along the course, the corrals to begin and end the race, the music, the food, the offical timing clock, the bibs with numbers AND NAMES on them all contributed to making this an authentic run for our kids and families. To have people along the course cheering us on as we ran was an added surprise, as were the posters encouraging certain individuals as they ran. The presentation of a medal at the finish line and the draw for “Run for Fun” t-shirts were the icing on the cake. It was simply a wonderful event. Mille mercis à M Bédard pour son leadership, and the many hands that contributed to this. It was great.

    M. Bedard has been a huge inspiration. I started the training program with doubts that I would ever get to the end. With the encouragement and positive reinforcement from M. Bedard and my kids, I did it! I think M. Bedard might have started something that we might all continue! M. Bedard….thank you so much for taking the time to organize such a fun event.

Katie and I had a blast we will defiantly be back if there is a fun run next year. We were sorry to have to run off to the next event in our lives and couldn’t stay and cheer!

    M. Bedard having run in many professionally organized events I can say your run was very well organized. Well done!

Thank you, M. Bedard, for the Run for Fun! I had never run before, now I can say that I’ve run 5km and had fun doing it. I will now continue to run…M. Bedard, you’ve inspired a permanent change.
